Hedvig Skjerdingstad - MONUMENT

The Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture, Copenhagen. 2013.

Correspondingly to the way we live and arrange our society, the conception of time has altered throughout different times in history. Our perception of time has radically changed, due to various factors such as religion, urban and social arrangements and the progression of modern technology.

The monument, situated at Møns Klint in Denmark, explores the perceptions of time during the 20th century, where speed and rapid growth is reflected in the cultural landscape. This hasty movement of speed is illustrated through the structure of the monument and its position at the site, yet it also explores how this construction interacts with the time cycles of the surrounding nature.
